How you can Verify NIN Online
The Mobile ID and the improved NIN slip with QR code can be presented as a valid means of identification using the NIMC Mobile ID app. Banks and government officials can use your NIN to verify your identity.
With that being said, below is how you can verify NIN online:
- Your National Identification Number (NIN).
- To receive an OTP for installing the Mobile ID app. You have to provide the phone number you used during enrolment for the NIN.
- A Good Internet connection.
Procedures to Verify NIN Online:
Step 1: You can get the app from https://nimcmobile.app or search MWS Mobile ID app on Google Play Store for Android and App store for iOS devices.
Step 2: Open the MWS Mobile ID app that you have installed on your mobile phone.
Step 3: Enter your PIN on the lock screen.
Step 4: Click on the “SHOW MY ID” button displayed on the Home screen.
Step 5: Choose the information you want the verifier to verify by changing the switch above the QR barcode to Basic ID or Full ID.
The basic ID to be verified includes Firstname, Middle Name, and Last Name.
The full ID to be verified includes Firstname, Middlename, Lastname, Date of Birth, Nationality, and Sex.
Step 6: Now the verifier should hold their device above the QR barcode of your profile. It will take a few seconds for the barcode reader to scan the information stored within it.
Step 7: The verifier’s mobile ID app will show your details that includes your verified passport photograph and name.
Note: These details are not stored on their mobile device.
How do I check my NIN verification status?
To check your NIN verification status simply dial *346#. Make sure you use the same phone number you use to enroll for your NIN.
Input 1: For NIN retrieval, input 2: to generate a User ID and OTP, and input 3: for virtual NIN.
However a service fee of N20 (twenty naira) will be deducted from your phone credit balance.

You can use the MWS Mobile ID app developed and managed by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to verify NIN online.

How can I verify my Nimc online?
You can verify your Nimc online using the NIMC MWS Mobile ID app. Every individual is given 30 credit units for trial. However, each profile verification costs 1 credit unit.
There are two verification levels for peer-to-peer verification which include Basic ID verification and Full ID verification.
You can choose to limit the information you share with the verifier by switching the Basic ID or Full ID in the Show My ID section in the mobile app.
